A Winery Wedding Reception to Remember

Are there wedding bells in your future?  If so, it’s probably something you’ve been planning for a very long time.  If you’re like most American women, you may have started fantasizing about your wedding day at an early age and perhaps even started a scrap book to serve as a warehouse for all your ideas.

As time passed and technology matured, you probably traded in your scrap book for a Pinterest or other social media account but the concept remains the same and it’s likely that you’ve thought about almost every aspect of your special day.  Where the wedding will be. Where the reception will be. Where the bachelor and bachelorette parties will be. The rehearsal dinner. All of it.

If you haven’t yet settled on a venue for some of the elements mentioned above, may we recommend a winery wedding reception at Blue Valley?  If you haven’t heard of Blue Valley, we’ll tell you why it might be perfect for your Big Day in this piece.

For starters, Blue Valley is one of only a handful of family owned wineries in the state of Virginia.  Winemaking is a longstanding tradition in our family that traces back three generations to Greece. We imported those traditions here when we purchased a portion of a much larger estate that once belonged to John Marshall, who served as the fourth Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court.

Those two facts combine to give Blue Valley a historical significance that history buffs are sure to love and give the wines we produce a unique flair that has made us one of the best wineries in the region.

Don’t take our word for it though, come enjoy our wines for yourself and spend the day walking the grounds and touring our venue spaces so you can find out firsthand if this would be the perfect place for the winery wedding reception in your future.

What kind of ambience do you envision for your reception?  If you’re interested in something with a rustic aesthetic, we’ve got two great options to consider.

Our Barrel Room is an expansive space capable of accommodating up to 120 people and offers a number of other stand-out features as well, including gorgeous chandeliers and hand carved stonework embroidering the walls.  You’ll feel like you’ve entered a medieval castle when you step into this space.

If that’s more space than you need, then you’ll love The Cave which is our smallest and most intimate space, capable of accommodating just 40 people.  It is a room that seems to exist in another place and time, adorned with hand laid stonework, farm tables, a small collection of wine barrels and candle-draped chandeliers.  It is truly a magical space.

If your tastes run to the more traditional, we have two other great venue spaces to consider.  They are:

The Traditions Room

Capacity: 80 guests

This space is notable because of its many windows that give it a bright, airy feel.  It offers direct access to our spacious veranda, which gives it a great indoor/outdoor feel that provides unforgettable views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the veranda side, while offering a lovely view of our vineyard from the opposite side.

The Heritage Room

Capacity: 60 guests

If the Traditions room is too big for your purposes, the slightly smaller Heritage Room might be an ideal choice.  The room features an absolutely stunning stone fireplace, beautiful chandeliers and skylights to give it an airy feel.  The windows on one side offer an unforgettable view of the Blue Ridge Mountains while the other offers a view of the vineyard itself.

Even better, this space has direct access to our Sunset Terrace so your guests can move the festivities outdoors if they’d like to and the weather permits.  A wonderful, cozier space that provides a nice contrast to some of our more expansive rooms, it would make an ideal venue for a medium sized winery wedding reception.

On the other hand, if you’re interested in something modern, open and elegant than either the Celebrations room or the Loft which overlooks it would be great options, with the Celebrations room able to accommodate some 200 guests, and the Loft capable of supporting up to 120.  If you’ve got an especially large winery wedding reception planned, why not book them both to be sure you’ve got plenty of space?

Whatever you decide, we’ll take good care of you.  Of course, we don’t recommend making a final decision on the basis of the descriptions offered here, and to that end, for your convenience, here are our hours of operation:

Although we are open during most holidays, please note that we are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.

If you have any questions prior to scheduling your trip out to see us, don’t hesitate to give us a call.   We’re looking forward to spending the day with you and hearing more about your special day!
