Blue Valley Hosts Vineyard Weddings Near Washington DC

How long have you been planning your perfect wedding? For many people, it’s an event years in the making. If you started planning before Pinterest existed, you may have gotten started with your planning by keeping all your ideas in a giant scrap book, and then migrated everything to a monster-sized Pinterest board as the technology evolved. Either way, you’ve probably got tons of great ideas.

Some aspects of the perfect wedding are easy to plan and visualize, but others can be quite tricky. The perfect venue for instance, can be one of the most difficult parts of the equation to nail down. There are so many options available, but which one is just right?

The answer, of course, is that it depends on exactly what you’re looking for. If you’ve been struggling to find a space that speaks to you, have you considered a vineyard wedding near Washington DC? If so, may we recommend Blue Valley?

We opened our little vineyard more than two decades ago when we purchased a portion of an estate that was once owned by none other than John Marshall, who was the fourth Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court. This fact gives our beloved winery an impressive historical pedigree, paired with the majestic views and vistas of the Blue Ridge mountains, providing a one of a kind, storybook setting for your vineyard wedding near Washington DC and offering views unmatched by any other venue we know of.

Of course, dramatic views are only one part of the equation. The spaces themselves have to be every bit the equal of the backdrop and setting or it simply won’t work. That’s why we’ve worked hard to develop a total of seven different venue spaces for your consideration. Each is uniquely decorated and has a distinctive aesthetic, and we’ve got spaces ranging from the small and intimate, to vast, expansive spaces capable of playing host to even the largest weddings. Below, we’ll give you a brief overview of the spaces we have available.

The Traditions Room

Capacity: 80 guests

Graced with a number of windows which gives this space a bright, airy feel, the Traditions Room also offers direct access to our spacious veranda, which gives it a great indoor/outdoor feel that provides unforgettable views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the veranda side, while offering a lovely view of our vineyard from the opposite side. You may even catch sight of some of our farm animals as they meander across your field of view. A lovely room decorated in an understated traditional style that is a perfect space for medium-sized weddings.

The Heritage Room

Capacity: 60 guests

The Heritage Room is slightly smaller than our Traditions room, which makes it a fantastic choice for a smaller vineyard wedding near Washington DC. The room features an absolutely stunning stone fireplace, beautiful chandeliers and skylights to give it an airy feel. The windows on one side offer an unforgettable view of the Blue Ridge Mountains while the other offers a view of the vineyard itself.
Even better, this space has direct access to our Sunset Terrace so your guests can move the festivities outdoors if they’d like to and the weather permits. A wonderful, cozier space that provides a nice contrast to some of our more expansive rooms.

The Celebrations Room

Capacity: 200+ guests

This vast, elegant space has a lot to offer and is the ideal choice if you’re planning a large vineyard wedding near Washington DC. Among other things, it boasts not one but two bars, both made from 200-year old oaks harvested right on the property, then hand-made by Yianni Zissios.

The room is filled with expansive glass windows that offer spectacular mountain views, and you’ll find a trio of flat screen TVs if you’d like to incorporate A/V into your special day. On top of that, you’ll find a cozy fireplace, fun Bistro lights and high ceilings with exposed wooden beams that give the room both elegance and charm.

The Loft

Capacity: 120 guests

Given the loft’s second floor perch, it offers even more spectacular and panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the room’s numerous windows. In addition to that, the space sports a large marble fireplace which draws the eye and is sure to be one of the more popular places your guests will gravitate toward.

In addition to that, you’ll find gorgeous chandeliers and a highly customizable space that can be tweaked to suit most any occasion. Guests who have an exceptionally large event planned often book the Loft and the Celebrations Room together as the Loft overlooks the Celebrations room.

The Barrel Room

Capacity: 120 guests

This is one of two delightfully rustic spaces we have available. The centerpiece is, of course, the rows of French and American barrels where our wines sit aging gracefully, but the room offers a number of other stand-out features as well, including gorgeous chandeliers and hand carved stonework embroidering the walls.

You’ll feel like you’ve entered a medieval castle when you step into this space. It’s not for everyone, but depending on the aesthetic you’re looking for where your wedding is concerned, it could be absolutely perfect for you.

The Cave

Capacity: 40 guests

The cave is our smallest venue space and our most rustic. It is a room that seems to exist in another place and time, adorned with hand laid stonework, farm tables, a small collection of wine barrels and candle-draped chandeliers.

It’s a magical space and ideal for small, intimate gatherings. Again, if you’re not interested in a rustic wedding, this probably isn’t the space you’re looking for, but for the right person, it could be absolutely perfect.

The Bridal Suite

Every bride to be needs a space to retreat to as the final wedding preparations are underway, which is why we created the Bridal Suite. It gives the harried bride a safe haven to escape to so she can relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the scenic, peaceful views as the final preparations are being made. The Bridal Suite can be rented in conjunction with any of our venue spaces and we highly recommend doing so.

Although the descriptions of the venue spaces offered above are of some value, there’s no substitute for touring them in person. If anything you’ve read to this point piques your interest and you’d like to take a closer look to see if one of these spaces would be perfect for your vineyard wedding near Washington DC, why not grab your closest friends and come join us for a wine tasting?

Unless the room is booked for some other purpose, we hold most of our wine tastings in the Celebrations Room, but of course, you’ll be able to take a closer look at the other spaces we have available too, and if you like, while you’re here, you can take a tour of our 20,000 square foot production facility too, to get a behind the scenes look at how we craft our award-winning wines.

Are you a music lover? If so, and you’d like to enjoy some fantastic local and regional bands, you should know that we regular host them here. Be sure to check out our event calendar when scheduling your trip, and for your convenience, we’ll post our hours of operation below.

Although we are open during most holidays, please note that we are closed on both Christmas and New Year’s Day. If you have any questions prior to scheduling your trip to come spend the day with us, don’t hesitate to give us a call. We’re looking forward to speaking with and seeing you.
