Rustic Weddings Near Washington DC in the Blue Ridge Mountains

How much time have you spent planning your wedding?  If you’re like most people, your big day has probably been in the planning stages for months, if not years.  If you live in or around Washington DC and your tastes run to the more rustic, it can be difficult to find the right setting though.

If that describes your situation, may we recommend Blue Valley?  We’re one of the few family-owned and operated wineries in the state of Virginia, and in the years since we opened our doors, we’ve become one of the premier venues for people planning rustic weddings near Washington D.C.

Nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains, our winery was built on part of what was once a much larger estate belonging to the fourth Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court, John Marshall.  In additions to the improvements we’ve made over the years, the area is remarkably beautiful and offers vistas that are simply unmatched.  Your guests will be talking about your special day for years to come!

Of course, natural beauty is only part of the equation when planning rustic weddings near Washington D.C.  You also need a venue with ample space, whatever the size of your wedding party, and it needs to match the rustic theme you have in mind.

We totally understand that, which is why we’ve worked hard to develop a number of delightful indoor spaces which would be perfect for you.  We’ll describe them all in brief, but in this article, we will, of course, draw special attention to the more rustic rooms that would be the best fit for the kind of wedding you have in mind.  Let’s take a closer look at some of the options we have available:

The Traditions Room

This beautiful room has high ceilings, a private bar and it provides direct access to our spacious veranda which makes it a perfect option for people who want to offer their guests a mix of indoors and out.

A large number of windows in the room which gives it a bright, airy feel while simultaneously providing breathtaking views of the vineyard itself and the occasional animal that may wander by.  With a capacity of 80 guests, it may be just what you’re looking for.

The Heritage Room

This space offers a little of everything:  A grand view of the winery itself on one side, and unforgettable views of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the other, high ceilings with skylights and beautiful chandeliers overhead and a big, cozy stone fireplace.

On top of that, you’ll have direct access to our Sunset Terrace, giving you the option to move things outdoors if the weather permits and the mood strikes.  This space can accommodate up to sixty guests, so if you’re planning a large wedding, it may not be enough space, but for small to medium-sized events, it’s absolutely perfect.

The Barrel Room

If you’re looking for something a bit more rustic, our famous Barrel Room belongs on your shortlist of possible venues.  With the capability of accommodating up to 120 guests, this room transports you to another age.  Entering the space, you’ll feel as though you’ve just stepped into a medieval castle.

The walls are embroidered with hand-cut stone taken from right here on the property and the barrels are arranged in tiers.  You’ll find rows and rows of American and French oak barrels which are quietly aging our Blue Valley wine as you’re entertaining guests among them.  Over the years, this room has played host to a number of rustic weddings near Washington D.C.

The Cave

If you’re looking for something even smaller and more intimate than our Barrel Room, and you want something even more delightfully rustic, then The Cave deserves your attention.  Every bit of the stonework that makes up this room was hand laid.  It’s decorated with a mix of farm tables, wine barrels, and candle-draped chandeliers which combine to give the space an ancient feel that with the smallest of nudges could be transformed into a dramatic fantasy aesthetic.  This space is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced and for the right couple, would be an ideal wedding or reception space.

We certainly wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t want to rely on written descriptions alone to make your final decision.  We wouldn’t either, which is why we recommend coming out to spend the day with us so you can check out the vineyard and the spaces we offer for yourself.

Join us for a wine tasting, delicious food, and a tour of our facilities.  We think you’ll be absolutely enchanted!  Note that we’re open most holidays, but please be aware that we are closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day.

If you have any questions before heading this way to spend the day with us, don’t hesitate to give us a call!  We’ve hosted a number of lovely rustic weddings near Washington D.C. over the years, and we’d love to provide the space for yours!
