Selecting the Perfect Rustic Outdoor Wedding Venue

Planning your perfect wedding is something you may have started doing years, or even decades ago.  How many little girls grow up dreaming of the perfect storybook wedding?  Of course, everyone’s vision of what that looks like differs, so the pictures you’ve cut out to include in your scrapbook on the topic, or the Pinterest boards you may have set up to keep track of all your ideas are unique to you, but the basic idea; the basic fantasy is the same.

If your tastes run to the more old fashioned and traditional, and you’ve been exploring different rustic outdoor wedding venues to try and find the perfect fit, may we recommend Blue Valley?  Nestled in the  Blue Ridge Mountains, our estate once belonged to the fourth Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Marshall.  We purchased a significant portion of the Marshall estate more than two decades ago and began lovingly transforming it into the vineyard it is today.

With sweeping views of the vineyard itself set against the backdrop of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, you’re sure to find any number of places on the property that would be an ideal place to exchange vows with your intended.  When we first saw the property, we absolutely fell in love with it and we think you will too.  Over the years, it has become one of Virginia’s most popular rustic outdoor wedding venues and the moment you see it, you’ll understand and appreciate why.

If you’re interested in the idea of having your wedding at a vineyard, our recommendation is to come out and pay us a visit so you can see the place for yourself and actually spend some time walking the property.  Although we have a number of photos scattered around our website, the simple truth is that no mere photograph can truly do the area justice.  It has to be seen and experienced to be fully appreciated.

Have you ever been to a wine tasting?  Ever been interested to learn more about how wines are made?  If you answered yes to either of those questions, then you’ll be thrilled to know that we offer tastings throughout the year and tours on request, so come on your own or bring a group of friends and spend the day with us!

If you’d like to listen to some music while you’re taking the tour and spending the afternoon with us, you should know that we regularly feature live music from area performers, so be sure to check our event calendar and plan your day accordingly.

Although we are open during most holidays, although we are closed on both Christmas and New Year’s Day.

The quest for rustic outdoor wedding venues is all well and good, but if you’re like most people, you and your guests are probably going to want to spend at least some time inside too.  In that case, you’re in luck!  We offer a range of indoor spaces that can accommodate from 40 or so guests to more than two hundred, so however many people you’re planning to invite to join you on your special day, we’ve got a venue space to meet your needs.  Here’s a quick overview:

Indoor Spaces To Compliment Our Rustic Outdoor Wedding Venues

The Heritage Room

Big enough to accommodate a maximum of sixty guests, the Heritage room offers a little bit of everything.  On one side of the room, you get a picturesque view of the winery itself, and on the other, a fabulous view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Skylights provide natural lighting that gives the space a warm, natural glow, augmented by expertly placed, beautiful chandeliers, with the room’s capstone feature being the cozy stone fireplace.  In addition to that, this space offers direct access to our Sunset Terrace, which gives you the option of moving the party back outside if and as the mood strikes.  This is a superb venue option.

Traditions

This room is large enough to accommodate up to eighty guests and offers direct access to our spacious veranda, making it an ideal choice for medium-sized receptions, especially if you want to move in and outdoors freely.

The large windows offer a beautiful view of the winery itself, and you may even catch sight of one of a few of our farm animals as you enjoy your special day.

The Celebration Room

This massive space serves as our main wine tasting room on most days, but with the capacity to accommodate more than two hundred people, it’s an ideal choice for even the largest weddings and receptions.

The room is bedecked with bistro lights, features high ceilings with exposed wooden beams, a large fireplace, and not one, but two different bars that were hand-crafted from 200-year-old oaks harvested right from the estate grounds.

On top of that, the room offers a trio of large flat-screen TVs in case you want to use them to show memorable videos of how you met your intended.

The Loft

The Loft overlooks the Celebration room, and in cases of extremely large receptions, can be rented in addition to the Celebration Room, giving you the ability to accommodate an additional 120 people.  The opposite side of the room offers a stunning view of the Blue Ridge Mountains that’s sure to draw the eye of anyone occupying the space, and for those who don’t want to admire the natural beauty, there’s a gorgeous marble fireplace to congregate near.

The Cave

If you’re looking for an indoor venue for your reception and you’re planning on having a small, intimate gathering, then the Cave belongs on your short list of options to consider.  While it only has enough space to accommodate a maximum of 40 people, it provides a dramatic and unforgettable setting that will leave you feeling as though you’ve been transported to another age.

That said, this option isn’t for everyone, but if you’re planning on having a themed wedding, then the Cave might mesh perfectly with your vision.  It’s decorated with a mix of candle-draped chandeliers, wine barrels and farm tables and over the years, has been featured in scores of memorable wedding photos.  It could serve as the backdrop for some of your wedding photos too!

The Barrel Room

This is a delightfully rustic option.  Capable of accommodating up to 120 guests, this room really does look like something right out of a storybook.  Filled with rows and rows of American and French barrels that hold gracefully aging wines, this room offers a wonderful, fantasy-like Old World ambiance that must be experienced to be fully appreciated.

The Bridal Suite

Planning the perfect wedding is a nerve-wracking, chaotic affair.  For brides, it seems like there are a million different things flying at them at once.  Everyone needs your final approval on something and they all seem to need it right now.  It’s enough to send even the most even-tempered, laid-back person alive into a full-blown panic.

We completely understand.  That’s why, in addition to offering a wide range of venue spaces, paired with delightful food and wine options, we also offer a deluxe bridal suite, which makes an excellent addition to any venue you decide is perfect for you.

This suite gives you, as the bride, a wonderful hideaway to escape to whenever you need to withdraw for a bit and enjoy a glass of wine or champagne while looking out over the mountains.  Tastefully and comfortably appointed, you’ll find everything you need to help you relax in this space and it’s close enough to the center of the action that when you’re ready to plunge back into the fray, you’re only moments away from being able to do so.

With more than 20,000 square feet of indoor space, our beautiful winery offers the best of both worlds.  Breathtaking rustic outdoor wedding venues, combined with the elegance and charm of our indoor spaces.

Give us a call today and let’s talk about how we can make your big day the storybook wedding you’ve always dreamed it would be.
