Tour a scenic Virginia Vineyard

Are you struggling to come up with new ideas when it comes to spending time with your family and best friends?  Are you tired of hanging out in the same old, familiar haunts and making the rounds at all your usual spots?

If you’re in the market for something a little different and off the beaten path, may we recommend Blue Valley?  Our Virginia vineyard is one of the few family-owned and operated enterprises of its kind in the state, and it provides an absolutely magical setting to spend time with family and friends.  Nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains, it offers spectacular views you just can’t get anywhere else, and the land Blue Valley sits on is steeped in historical significance.

We opened our Virginia vineyard more than two decades ago when we purchased a portion of a much larger estate that was once owned by John Marshall, who served as the fourth Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court.  Since that time, we’ve lovingly breathed life into the grounds, bringing with us three generations of Greek wine-making culture and tradition which now permeates every inch of the grounds.

For us, Blue Valley isn’t just a fabulous family-owned business, it is an ongoing, ever-evolving adventure we love sharing with the guests who come spend time with us.  It is a celebration of our traditions.

There’s something new and interesting to see no matter what season you decide to visit.  If you come in the spring, you’ll be treated to the lush, vibrant greens of new foliage bursting to life as the mountains reawaken after a long winter nap.  In the summer, the fruits of the vineyard are on full display, the vines heavy with fruit and the grounds are bustling with life and activity.

The fall, of course, is another active, bustling season, made even better thanks to the rich tapestry of colors that the autumn leaves provide.  In the winter, with the leaves gone, the stark majesty of the mountains themselves takes center stage, providing a quietly beautiful backdrop for a day spent with us.  No matter the time of year, you could spend the better part of the afternoon just wandering the grounds and soaking in the natural beauty the area has to offer.

Of course, unforgettable views alone don’t make a fabulous getaway for you, your family and your friends.  That, however, is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. You’ll find a surprising amount to do and enjoy here that extends well beyond just taking in the scenery.

One of the most common reasons people journey to our lovely Virginia vineyard is to sample our vintages in a wine tasting.  Since we first opened our doors, the vintages we’ve produced have won more than twenty-four thousand awards, with more collected each year.

A wine tasting allows you to sample the best of our vintages and introduce your taste buds to wines that may well become some of your new favorites.  Don’t be at all surprised if you wind up wanting to buy a bottle or two, or even a case to take home with you to add to your wine collection, or to give as gifts to those close to you.

In addition to that, we also offer a small selection of delicious foods you can enjoy with your wine, turning it into a leisurely afternoon of discovery spent with the family and friends you bring with you.  Although we don’t offer an expansive menu, each dish is carefully considered and prepared, and whatever you choose is sure to complement the wine you’re enjoying.

Even better, we frequently play host to a variety of local and regional musical acts, so if you’d like musical accompaniment with your food and wine, be sure to check our event calendar and schedule your trip appropriately.  On the other hand, if you know you don’t want music and are looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of larger crowds, schedule your upcoming visit when there are no acts booked and it will give you a greater feeling of seclusion while you’re here.

Want a behind the scenes look at how we do what we do?  We offer tours of our state-of-the-art production facility for a modest additional fee that will give you unique insights into the process of wine making that will surprise and delight you.

Then, of course, there are the venue spaces we offer here at our lovely Virginia vineyard.  If you’re planning a wedding, reception, holiday extravaganza, corporate event, or other types of party and you want an unforgettable venue to host it, you owe it to yourself to check out the collection of venue spaces we offer.  We’ve carefully cultivated seven different spaces, each with a unique character and ambiance that far exceed anything you’ll find at a hotel convention center or other location you may be considering.

Some of the spaces we offer are sleek and modern, while others are more traditionally styled and decorated.  Others still have a delightful rustic look and feel, so there’s something for every taste and preference, and our spaces can accommodate parties as small as forty, or as large as two hundred.  If you’re planning an event even larger than that, more than one space can be booked, so you’ll always have plenty of room for your guests.

We’ve even got a Bridal Suite we make available to brides to be so they have a safe haven to retreat to in preparation for their special day that’s close enough to the action that they can plug back into the process and preparations if and as needed.

Of all the venue spaces we offer, The Cave is perhaps the most talked about.  It’s our smallest space, capable of accommodating just 40 guests, but the simple act of stepping into the room transports you to another age.  Decorated with hand laid stonework, farm tables, wine barrels and candle-draped chandeliers, you’ll feel like you’re in, and experiencing your very own fairy tale.

Over the years, a number of unforgettable, intimate gatherings have been hosted here, and thousands of memorable photos have been taken by guests who were utterly captivated by the setting.

The Celebrations Room, which is our largest space and our main tasting room is often booked together with The Loft to accommodate the largest of gatherings and opens up the possibility of stately photographs taken from the floor of guests on the wide staircase that connects the two spaces, or on the balcony of The Loft that looks down into the Celebrations Room.

Some of our spaces have an indoor/outdoor option, being connected and offering access to the terraces the main building has to offer, enabling your guests to take the festivities outdoors if the weather permits where even more spectacular views of the mountainous setting can be had.

As we said, whatever your tastes and preferences are, you’re sure to find something here that will delight.  That, combined with our exquisite collection of wines, wholesome, delicious foods and the storybook like setting that our lovely Virginia vineyard provides makes any event hosted here a truly unforgettable experience.

All that to say, there’s a lot to do here and a lot to explore.  Once you come the first time, the odds are good that you’ll fall in love with Blue Valley and be completely enchanted by the serene, timeless setting.  If that happens, you’ll almost certainly want to come back again and again. You will have found a delightful hidden vista for you, your friends, and your family to enjoy.  If that sounds good to you, call your closest friends and start planning your trip today.

We’re open most holidays, but please note that we are closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
