Virginia White Wines with a Greek Influence

Do you consider yourself a wine connoisseur?  Did you know that Blue Valley Wines have won many awards since we’ve been in the business?  As one of just a handful of family-owned wineries in the state, we take great pride in that, and in what we do.

Our family has a long winemaking tradition that began in Greece, and we’re proud to continue that here, in Blue Valley.  If you’re looking for some new Virginia white wines to try, we’ve got a number of selections you may enjoy.  Here are a few:

2016 Estate Sauvignon Blanc

This sparkling wine scored 93 points at the San Francisco International Wine Competition and was a Silver Medal Winner.  It also scored 89 points in the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition, where it also won a Wine Enthusiast Silver Medal.

It’s 100% estate grown, and has superb balance and aromatics, with hints of melon and green apple, making it a pure delight.

The 2018 Estate Viognier

One of our more complex Virginia white wines, this one is also 100% estate grown and of medium intensity.  The aroma is a wonderful mix of honeysuckle and rose petals with hints of mango.  It won a silver medal in the Finger Lakes Wind Competition, and one taste will leave you wanting more.

2014 Heritage

This glorious wine is a blend of 67% Chardonnay, 22% Sauvignon Blanc, 6% Pino Gris, and 5% Viognier.  It earned a gold medal at the INDY International Wine Competition and a silver medal at the American Wine Society, among others.  Aged nine months, it features nuanced notes of French oak, orchard fruits, and citrus.

2014 Chardonnay

This silver medal winner at the San Francisco International Wine Competition is a medium-plus body wine that presents hints of French oak and butterscotch mingled with and complemented by notes of orchard fruit.  It is smooth, sparkling and delightful.

This, of course, is just a small sampling, and while the descriptions above are valuable, the best way to truly appreciate the Virginia white wines we offer is to come spend the day with us and enjoy a wine tasting.  If you’d like to enjoy music with your wine, be sure to check our event calendar before scheduling your trip.  We regularly play host to a variety of local and regional musicians who perform on the estate.

We’re open most holidays, but please note that we are closed on Christmas and New Years day.

If you have any questions before scheduling your visit with us, give us a call.  We can’t wait to see you!
