How long have you been planning your special day? As a little girl, did you start a scrapbook so you could keep track of every aspect of your perfect storybook wedding, down to the tiniest detail? If so, you’re not alone.
Then, of course, as time and technology evolved, you may have upgraded from a scrapbook to a Pinterest or other type of social media account, creating albums filled with things that caught your eye or captured your imagination.
Some details were probably fairly easy to work out. It most likely didn’t take long to find the perfect dress or settle on a wedding theme or décor scheme you loved, but location…that can be notoriously tricky. Unfortunately, if there’s anything off about the location you select, it will throw every other detail off too.
Have you been considering a Northern Virginia vineyard wedding? If the idea speaks to you, but you’ve been having trouble settling on a specific location, then may we recommend Blue Valley? Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the area offers some of the most gorgeous views you’ll find anywhere and creates a fantasy-like backdrop for your big day.
We created Blue Valley more than twenty years ago when we purchased a portion of the estate that once belonged to John Marshall, the fourth Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court, so in addition to being simply gorgeous, the area is steeped in history, making it all the more special.
Best of all, ours is one of just a handful of family-owned and operated wineries in the state and we treat all of our guests like family, which adds a little something extra to the day that you can’t get from a larger corporate winery, which makes Blue Valley the ideal spot for your Northern Virginia vineyard wedding.
Although our winery is beautiful, scenic views and fabulous vistas are only one part of the equation. Your ideal location will also feature a variety of well-appointed, state of the art facilities offered in a range of styles and decorated to appeal to a variety of tastes. That’s why we’ve worked hard to develop a number of versatile, attractive indoor and outdoor spaces that cater to a wide range of needs. Here’s a quick overview of what we have to offer:
The Celebration Room
This massive space serves as our main wine tasting room on most days, but with the capacity to accommodate more than two hundred people, it’s an ideal choice for even the largest weddings and receptions.
The room is bedecked with bistro lights, features high ceilings with exposed wooden beams, a large fireplace, and not one, but two different bars that were hand-crafted from 200-year-old oaks harvested right from the estate grounds.
On top of that, the room offers a trio of large flat-screen TVs in case you want to use them to show memorable videos of how you met your intended. It’s an ideal choice for the largest Northern Virginia vineyard weddings.
Sitting perched such that it overlooks the Celebration Room, the Loft is another splendid venue option that features an even more spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains on one side, while offering a few down into the Celebration room on the other.
It’s also graced with chandeliers that are both unique and beautiful and has a gorgeous marble fireplace that gives the room a character all its own. With a capacity of 120, it’s the perfect fit for most weddings, but if you have an exceptionally large reception planned, you may want to consider booking both the Celebration Room and the Loft.
The Traditions Room
This space is large enough to accommodate up to eighty guests and offers direct access to our spacious veranda, making it an ideal choice for medium-sized receptions, especially if you want to move in and outdoors freely.
The large windows offer a beautiful view of the winery itself, and you may even catch sight of one of a few of our farm animals as you enjoy your special day.
The Heritage Room
The Heritage Room offers a little bit of everything: A sweeping view of our winery on one side, breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the other, high ceilings with skylights and beautiful chandeliers overhead and a big, cozy stone fireplace.
In addition to that, the room offers access to the Sunset Terrace, giving you the option to move things outdoors if the weather permits and the mood strikes. This space can accommodate up to sixty guests, so if you’re planning a large wedding, it may not be enough space, but for small to medium-sized events, it’s absolutely perfect and one of our most popular Northern Virginia vineyard wedding venues.
The Barrel Room
If you’re looking for something a bit more rustic, our famous Barrel Room belongs on your shortlist of possible venues. With the capability of accommodating up to 120 guests, this room transports you to another age. Entering the space, you’ll feel as though you’ve just stepped into a medieval castle.
The walls are embroidered with hand-cut stone taken from right here on the property and the barrels are arranged in tiers. You’ll find rows and rows of American and French oak barrels which are quietly aging our Blue Valley wine as you’re entertaining guests among them. It’s an unforgettable room that can play an important role in making your special day even more unforgettable.
If you’re looking for an indoor venue for your reception and you’re planning on having a small, intimate gathering, then the Cave is a simply fabulous option. While it only has enough space to accommodate a maximum of 40 people, it provides a dramatic and unforgettable setting that will leave you feeling as though you’ve been transported to another age.
That said, this option isn’t for everyone, but if you’re planning on having a themed wedding, then the Cave might mesh perfectly with your vision. It’s decorated with a mix of candle-draped chandeliers, wine barrels and farm tables and over the years, has been featured in scores of memorable wedding photos. It could serve as the backdrop for some of your wedding photos too!
The Bridal Suite
Weddings, for all their joy and promise, are also hectic, chaos-filled days. If you want a Virginia winery wedding, then you, as the bride, need a space to escape from the chaos so you can prepare for the day. That’s precisely why we offer a separate Bridal Suite. Spacious and comfortable, you can relax with a glass of wine and gaze out at the Blue Ridge Mountains to help calm your mind and center yourself in preparation for your future. No matter which of the venues you choose, this is an excellent compliment.
Did any of the descriptions above pique your interest? If so, then our recommendation is to grab a few of your closest friends and come spend the day with us enjoying a wine tasting and a tour that will give you the opportunity to move through each space we offer to get a proper feel for them. That’s far and away the best way to know for sure if Blue Valley would make an ideal setting for your Northern Virginia vineyard wedding.
