Your Storybook Virginia Winery Wedding

Growing up, what little girl doesn’t spend at least some time picturing a storybook wedding?  Many people start early and wind up collecting massive notebooks or Pinterest boards filled with ideas, meticulously planning, or at least imagining the big event down to the smallest detail.

When planning the perfect day, finding the perfect location is every bit as important as finding the perfect dress, but with so many possibilities to choose from, settling on a venue can be an agonizing decision.  Have you considered having a Virginia winery wedding?

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, our winery offers picturesque views and a versatile setting that can be tweaked to taste to provide anything from an elegant and refined setting, a fun, thematic wedding, or lend a delightfully rustic ambiance to your Big Day, depending on your preferences and desires.

The property has been in our family for more than two decades now, and before we lovingly transformed the old estate into a winery, it was owned by John Marshall, who was the fourth Chief Justice of the United States.  Our family fell in love with the scenic views and quiet splendor of the area, and we think you will too.  In fact, with so many million-dollar views on the property, if you’re interested in an outdoor ceremony, you may have trouble deciding exactly where you want to host it!

Our winery is more than just a collection of scenic views, however.  We offer a variety of stunning venues you can use if you’d prefer to have an indoor wedding, or if you want to keep the ceremony itself outside, then the venues can be used for the reception that comes after.  Below, we’ll give you a quick overview of the various possibilities we offer:

Virginia Winery Wedding Venue Options

Traditions

This beautiful room has high ceilings, a private bar and it provides direct access to our spacious veranda which makes it an ideal choice for people who want the option of being both indoors and out at various points during your Big Day.

There are a vast number of windows in the room which gives it a bright, airy feel while simultaneously providing exquisite views of the vineyard itself and the occasional animal that may wander by.  With a capacity of 80 guests, it may be just what you’re looking for.

The Heritage Room

This space offers a little bit of everything:  A sweeping view of our winery on one side, breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the other, high ceilings with skylights and beautiful chandeliers overhead and a big, cozy stone fireplace.

In addition to that, the room offers access to the Sunset Terrace, giving you the option to move things outdoors if the weather permits and the mood strikes.  This space can accommodate up to sixty guests, so if you’re planning a large wedding, it may not be enough space, but for small to medium-sized events, it’s absolutely perfect.

The Celebration Room

With a capacity of more than 200, this room is perfect for a large Virginia winery wedding.  When not being used for that purpose, it serves as our main tasting room because it has so much to offer.  It features not one, but two different bars that have been hand-crafted from 200-year-old oak that was sourced from right here on our property.

In addition to that, you’ll find bistro lights, high ceilings with exposed wooden beams, a cozy fireplace and three large flat-screen TVs if you want to show memorable videos to your guests as sort of a ‘Pre-Wedding Greatest Hits.’

Best of all, the room’s numerous large windows offer a simply unbelievable view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, providing the perfect storybook backdrop for your special day.

The Loft

Sitting perched such that it overlooks the Celebration Room, the Loft is another splendid venue option that features an even more spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains on one side, while offering a few down into the Celebration room on the other.

It’s also graced with chandeliers that are both unique and beautiful and has a gorgeous marble fireplace that gives the room a character all its own.  With a capacity of 120, it’s the perfect fit for most Virginia winery weddings, but if you have an exceptionally large reception planned, you may want to consider booking both the Celebration Room and the Loft.

The Barrel Room

If you’re looking for something a bit more rustic, our famous Barrel Room belongs on your shortlist of possible venues.  With the capability of accommodating up to 120 guests, this room transports you to another age.  Entering the space, you’ll feel as though you’ve just stepped into a medieval castle.

The walls are embroidered with hand-cut stone taken from right here on the property and the barrels are arranged in tiers.  You’ll find rows and rows of American and French oak barrels which are quietly aging our Blue Valley wine as you’re entertaining guests among them.  It’s an unforgettable room that can play an important role in making your special day even more unforgettable.

The Cave

Looking for something even smaller and more intimate?  If so, and if you have a particular theme in mind for your wedding, then The Cave deserves your attention.  Every bit of the stonework that makes up this room was hand laid.  It’s decorated with a mix of farm tables, wine barrels, and candle-draped chandeliers which combine to give the space an ancient feel that with the smallest of nudges could be transformed into a dramatic fantasy aesthetic.  This space is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced and for the right couple, would be an ideal wedding or reception space.

The Bridal Suite

Weddings, for all their joy and promise, are also hectic, chaos-filled days.  If you want a Virginia winery wedding, then you, as the bride, need a space to escape from the chaos so you can prepare for the day.  That’s precisely why we offer a separate Bridal Suite.  Spacious and comfortable, you can relax with a glass of wine and gaze out at the Blue Ridge Mountains to help calm your mind and center yourself in preparation for your future.  No matter which of the venues you choose, this is an excellent compliment.

Whatever your preference, our staff can attend to many of the details that come with planning your big day, which gives you fewer details to worry about.  We invite you to spend some time browsing our menu items to get a feel for what we offer and what types of foods your guests might enjoy and of course, we can provide you with a broad selection of award-winning wines, crafted and aged right here on the property.

If you’d like to take a firsthand look at the spaces we offer before you decide, we invite you to come join us for a wine tasting!  If you’re planning to come during our peak season, which runs from April to November, our hours of operation are:

Although we are open during most holidays, we are closed on both Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Overall, we have more than 20,000 square feet of indoor space, and some of the most breathtaking views you’ll find anywhere in the state of Virginia.  Our winery offers the perfect backdrop to turn your dreams of a storybook wedding into a reality, and we’d love to spend your special day with you.

If you have any questions about the details of the services we provide, the availability of our facilities, or the winery itself, feel free to stop by and see us whenever you’re in the area or give us a call.  We’d love the opportunity to speak with you and do everything we can to help ensure that your Big Day is everything you always dreamed it would be!
